One item having a steady resurgance is the mountain parka. Prices for vintage models from the likes of Sierra Designs are hitting a three year high on eBay and there’s plenty of new releases from heritage and contemporary brands alike.
Waste(twice)‘s secondary line Voyage work again with Mt Rainier Design on a 60/40 jacket that ticks all the right boxes. The styling stays true to the classics while featuring some bold tweaks that bring it up to date. Rather than the standard four equal-sized, evenly spaced pockets on the front, the pockets are scaled up or down and positioned according to use. It reminds us of a fishing jacket, every pocket serves a purpose due to its size and position. The colours on offer are right up our street too. The orange has us reaching for our DVD of The Dear Hunter.
We know it’s only on sale in Japan and it’s expensive, but it sure is good looking.

Have preferred the ‘less pockets’ look this season, but the un-equal-sized, un-evenly spaced pockets really is interesting and works really well.
